While I haven't had the chopper long enough to test its durability, I have had it long enough to tell you how wonderful it is. This is one of those items you buy where you don't realize how much thought has been put into it until you realize how bad something like this could be. The blades retract into a plastic housing to prevent anything from getting stuck in the blades. A piece of plastic runs around the edges of the housing to prevent anything from getting stuck along the edges of the chopping container. All in all, I really really recommend this product. You'll never need to chop onions, garlic, tomatoes, etc. with a knife again.
Great buy - durable!

I bought this for my wife for Christmas after suffering for years with a cheap chopper. There were no reviews at that time to go by but it looked like a sturdy chopper. All I can say is that we have been extremely pleased with this product. It is very well build, very sturdy, comes apart easily and cleans up great! The rotating blades chop the material well with no effort on your part. We use it mainly for onions and mushrooms and it performs excellently. I would highly reccomend this chopper. Price is reasonable and it appears that it will last for years!
Great chopper

Pros: Chops onions like a charm, with no tears shed! That was the primary purpose of me getting this chopper, and it serves it very well.
Cons: None, really. Well, clean up is a little bit of a pain, but nothing I can't handle.
Other: Not necessarily a failing, but I discovered it doesn't chop fresh tomatoes up very well, but that's probably because I'm still learning how to use it.
This chopper's cousin, the mini-chopper, is EXCELLENT at chopping garlic. I highly recommend it as well.
My 2nd Chopper by This Company

This is a great chopper. I purchased one 3 years ago, by same company, and yes the blade did dull and I eventually needed to replace it, but I use it a lot. I use it very successfully for onions, bell peppers, nuts, and celery (perfect for tuna salad etc). As an example it can chop the firmest bell pepper from large chunks to near mush just by how many times you pump button. It is true that when you first put in a 1/2 onion (cut in quarters) that the onion will kinda jam up the chopper forcing you to be forceful with it. But this is true for EVERY chopper made. It is not an electric food processor. This is my 6th or so chopper of this type over the last 20 years. I do not find it difficult to clean, however, you may need a bottle style brush to get between blades if you let food dry on it before cleaning.
great chopper, hard to clean

This is a much better chopper than others I have seen or used (especially the Slap Chop-- a total waste of money). The only downfall we have encountered so far is that it is very hard to clean between the blades. Would highly recommend this chopper otherwise.
