Can't live without my Alligator

Reviewer: Good baker,
I've had the same Alligator for about 4 years, I use it almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day, and it's holding up great. I will tell you - for the easiest operation, you need to cut larger onions into quarters instead of halves. Some people (like my sister) hate it, but I think they are being too gentle when operating it. In order to get the Alligator all the way through the onions, I have to whack it as hard as I can about 3-4 times (I am not especially large or strong), holding my hand or a cup over the grate so the onion won't fly everywhere. I can fully dice a whole onion in less than a minute!
A true timesaver that WORKS!

This is a chopper that actually works. A friend showed me hers and how it works and I had to have one. I do a lot of cooking. The only problem I had (which was actually operator error) was not covering the unit where the food exits while closing the levor on the onion I was chopping. The onion came through the dicer so fast it popped up in the air and we had an onion rain shower. I have used it many times since with no problems. I wash it in the dishwasher and the blade remains sharp too. My daugther grabbed the unit by the cutter and did get a minor slice on her finger when taking it out of the dishwasher once, so be careful. It is a fabulous chopper. I also bought the mini chopper and do garlic on it. I am completely satisfied.
A Dicer Couldn't Be Nicer

I've had my alligator for two weeks now and the search is over. I was looking for the easy chopper or dicer and this is it. This thing is quick and slick. Quarter an onion, put a quarter on the base, lower the blade, and after it clicks you have a perfectly diced onion. I've used it for bell peppers too and it works great. I can now dice onions in seconds without a tear. The only con I have found is clean up even though it comes apart the blade section often retains onion skin even after a thorough hand washing. To me this is very minor. This product will reduce prep time with no tears. I would recommend it to all my friends.
Use it Regularly...

It isn't perfect, but I just love it. You do need to slam it down pretty hard, and sort of cup your hand around the product so it doesn't fly all over, but it makes such nice quarter inch dices for onions, shallots, etc. For tomato dices, be sure to put the skin side down (cut into fairly small pieces) and give it a good whack, but it works for that too. Don't know what it is, but it's one of my favorite kitchen gadgets.
Does A Perfect Job

The Alligator works perfectly. You only need to cut a large onion in half and place the flat side on the grid. Cup one hand over the grate and press the handle down firmly with the dicer on a solid surface. Presto! You have perfectly diced onion on a single pass and few of the pieces fly out of your hand. A real time saver, solidly built, easy to clean, and worth the money.
When I needed crushed pineapple and found I had only canned slices, one ring at a time it produced perfect crushed pineapple. Problem solved. I can't wait to try it on other fruits and vegetables. Buy it!
